This is Tails, an adoption agency focused on getting you to your new bestfriend faster. Tails adoption is a startup founded by Ian Alford with a small team of front end devs (including myself), focused on making a web application that connects adopters with people looking to pass on their cherished pets.
When I came onboard the team, the website needed alot of work. It was also very clear that UX had not been taken into consideration when creating the site. I immediately jumped into research mode to figure out the goal of the app, who the competitors were, what type of app should be built, etc.
The research methods I used were :
With the results from these research methods I began re building solution after solution!
Implementing the Tails Adoption site was a real challenge, but also one of the most rewarding projects I’ve worked on. It pushed me to learn a lot of new skills quickly. I was responsible for handling the front end development and also implementing the UX improvements I was suggesting, so I had to think both like a designer and a developer. Tails was actually my first real experience using React and Tailwind CSS. At first, both felt pretty overwhelming but as I worked through the challenges, I started to really enjoy building responsive components and seeing my designs come to life. By the end of the project, I was a lot more confident in both tools and proud of how the site turned out. I worked on mobile designs and developed them, aswell as profile designs and forms.
Tails is still growing as a company and thriving. I'm grateful I could be apart of creating a web app dedicated to making people happy, especially when it comes to choosing their bestfriend. If you would like to view the current website, click the video below!
